In the earlier post, solutions were given on how to better translate from English to Chinese. However, as the solutions given were hard to understand, we tried to make the whole thing simpler. The given solutions below are a simplified version of the previous one! Happy viewing!
英语和华语在句法 [syntax/sentence structures]，词汇 [vocabulary], 修辞 [rhetoric] 等方面有很大的不同。因此在进行英汉翻译 [English to Chinese translation] 时, 难免会遇到很多困难，需要一些翻译技巧作指导。
1. 省译法 [Cancellation method]
删去不符合表达方式的词。[Take away words that do not obey the rules of Chinese sentence structures.]
Eg. I hope you will enjoy your stay here
我希望你会享受你在这儿的逗留。
希望你在这儿过得愉快。
2. 转换法 [Transformation method]
为了符合译文 [the translated sentence] 的表达方法和习惯 [way of expression]，对原句 [the original sentence] 中的词类 [form of the word—verb, noun, adverb etc.],句型[sentence structure] 进行转换。
Eg. I’m all for your opinion.
我完全赞成你的意见。[介词转动词] [Preposition changed to verb]
In his article the author is critical of man’s negligence toward his environment.
作者在文章中，对人类自身环境的疏忽作了批评。[形容词转名词] [Adjective changed to noun]
3. 拆句法 [Summary method]
拆句法是在意合的原则下 [without changing the meaning of the original sentence], 把一个长而复杂的句子翻译成一个或几个较短，较简单的句子。
Eg. Increased cooperation with China is in the interests of the United States.
同中国加强合作，符合美国的利益。
4. 语序更换法 [Rearrangement method]
语序更换法把英语后置成分按照汉语的正常语序放在中心词之前。
Eg. You are the representative of a country and of a continent to which China feels particularly close.
你是一位来自于使中国倍感亲切的国家和大洲的代表。[语序更换]
